As true as that statement is, in the case of the SHED-IT™, this device was conceived not only out of necessity, but from the total frustration and aggravation involved with slug pulling and part pumping.
Crystal Engineering is a high volume/ high speed stamping company using Bruderer and Minster Presses. Crystal Engineering specializes in sems type washers of various shapes and sizes. Sems washers carry the burden of very high quality (i.e. no burrs, no foreign material, no miss feeds or half washers). Slug pulling and part pumping have been a constant concern in meeting these high quality standards.
Prior to utilizing the SHED-IT™ our thinking was slug/part retention, resulting in tight clearances between punch and matrix, of no more than 5% per side or less, with a slight negative opening on the matrix. The SHED-IT™ has the luxury of increased clearances up to 10% per side or more, with a virgin opening in the matrix, which results in less tool wear and more parts per sharpening. The outcome is increased production, decreased down time and less tooling service . Aggravation and frustration will be diminished when using the SHED-IT™ .
